Simon advises leading local fiduciary companies on all aspects of Guernsey trusts and issues relating to their underlying corporate structures. He is also an expert on the customary law of Guernsey.

  • Appeared before the Royal Court acting for the minor and unborn beneficiaries of a complex fixed interest trust in an application to vary the terms of the trust so as to delay vesting of the trust fund and extend the life of the trust.
  • Appeared before the Royal Court acting for the administrator of Guernsey real property applying for approval of a scheme of distribution of the proceeds of sale of property previously last sold in the 19th century, involving tracing heirs forwards from that time and applying historical Guernsey inheritance law.

Simon was called to the Guernsey Bar in 1988. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and a member of the Legislation Review Panel (which is responsible for approving all draft legislation passed in Guernsey prior to its submission to the legislature for approval). He was formerly President of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce and Deputy-Bâtonnier (Deputy Chairman) of the Guernsey Bar Council. He has written extensively on a variety of legal subjects.
