Robin is an Advocate and Senior Associate within the Dispute Resolution team. He has extensive experience in civil litigation, litigation avoidance and general advisory work. He practices across the full range of dispute services, but has a particular focus on representing clients for court hearings. In addition, Robin advises on both contentious and non-contentious employments issues.
- Appearing in the Guernsey Court of Appeal in the “Cobo car park” litigation, which related to the customary law meaning of “ownership of land” and customary powers over that land.
- Appearing in the Royal Court of Guernsey in response to a challenge to the jurisdiction of the Guernsey courts arising from a contention that a certain parcel of land was a “microstate” and therefore outside the jurisdiction of the local courts.
- Acting as Amicus/Partie Publique in various bankruptcy matters.
Robin joined Babbé in February 2020, after spending eight years at the Law Officers of the Crown in Guernsey as a civil litigation lawyer. In this role he worked across all aspects of civil litigation, litigation avoidance and general advisory work on behalf of the States of Guernsey. He regularly appears in the Bailiwick Courts, including the Court of Appeal. Prior to this he spent eight years in London where he practised at the Bar in chancery and commercial matters, appearing in the High Court and Court of Appeal, as well as in land and employment tribunals. Robin regularly appeared before the Employment Appeal Tribunals and County Courts in England and Wales, acting for both employer and employee in relation both to unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal claims. Robin was called to the Guernsey Bar in 2014 and Bar of England & Wales in 2004.
