Nick has over 20 years’ experience advising on trust law, across commercial, private and pensions trusts. He advises international financial institutions, government bodies, commercial trust companies and other professional advisers in the industry. He is widely recognised for his in-depth knowledge of pensions.

  • Advising a leading US investment bank on the creation of multiple foundation and trust structures in Guernsey involving the migration of six multi-billion dollar securitisation structures.
  • Advising on the creation of a bespoke family office structure using foundations to run underlying trusts, foundations and companies, including advice on the regulatory and licensing requirements of the GFSC.
  • Advising on a bespoke governance and risk mitigation framework for an international offshore pension scheme with assets in excess of £100m.
  • Providing expert evidence on technical Guernsey pensions law to the High Court in England and Wales.
  • Advising on re-structuring of trust and underlying corporate structures to release USD 500m to principal beneficiaries.
  • Advising an international pensions trust provider on the provision of a more integrated global offering of offshore pensions products, based on differences between pensions and tax legislation.

Nick qualified as a solicitor in England in 1997. After working at leading firms Reed Smith and McDermott Will & Emery, he moved to Babbé LLP to grow and enhance its trusts advisory practice and heads the firm’s Trusts and Pensions team.
