Partner Promotion announced at Babbé LLP

Babbé LLP announce Anna Guggenheim QC will become a partner with effect from 1 June 2016.

Anna Guggenheim QC is an Advocate in the dispute resolute team at Babbé LLP, which she joined in 2014. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in England in 2001 and is the only Advocate in Guernsey to hold that status. She is a highly experienced litigator having practised for over twenty years at the Bar in London, undertaking a wide variety of commercial litigation. Her experience includes international arbitration and mediation, both as counsel and as arbitrator/mediator. In 2006 she was appointed a Circuit Judge and tried both civil and criminal cases in London for eight years before moving to Guernsey. Her experience at the Bar and as a judge brings a unique perspective and focus to bear on the heavy trial and appellate caseload handled by the firm.

Managing Partner Andrew Laws said: “At Babbé LLP we believe that the quality of our people is what matters to clients. We were therefore delighted to recruit Anna two years ago and not surprised that she qualified as an Advocate locally in the shortest possible time in April this year. We are now very pleased to welcome Anna to the partnership.”

Head of the dispute resolution department Partner Ian Swan said: “Guernsey has become a major trial centre for big-ticket complex litigation. Babbé LLP has deliberately set out to be the premier provider of trial advocacy in the island and Anna’s addition to the team means that we can offer that service not only at the very highest levels, but simultaneously across a range of cases for an ever wider client base. Since joining us Anna has already developed a practice in heavyweight commercial and trusts litigation and will, I am sure, go from strength to strength.”
