Two Partners at Babbé LLP have been listed as ‘Leading Lawyers’ for Dispute Resolution by The Legal 500 United Kingdom Solicitors 2022 edition, with another ranked in the publication’s ‘Hall of Fame’.
Legal 500, a highly respected ranking directory that analyses the skills of law firms worldwide, has recognised that Babbé LLP has ‘an impressive offering for contentious insolvencies’. Along with ‘excellent lawyer’ Nick Robison, and ‘forceful advocate’ Todd McGuffin, who were both noted as ‘Leading Lawyers’, Legal 500 has also highlighted Partner Ian Swan as a ‘phenomenal advocate’ placing him in the ‘Hall of Fame’ and noted that Senior Associate David Doutney is a key member of the Dispute Resolution team.
The Directory noted that Babbé is ‘involved in some of Guernsey’s top-dollar fund administration proceedings’ and that ‘the practice is increasingly engaged in financial crime disputes, handling enforcement hearings before the GFSC into money laundering claims.’
Babbé is also ranked in Legal 500’s Private Client, Trusts and Tax directory for its Trust and Private Client practice led by Partner Andrew Laws, who Legal 500 describe as ‘highly experienced in fiduciary rules obligations and documentation, family office structurings and foundation establishments.’
Nick Robison, Managing Partner at Babbé LLP, said: ‘Recognition from Legal 500 shows that our team remains at the top of its game. In 2020, advocates from Babbé appeared in more reported cases than any other Guernsey firm, in addition to appearing on behalf of local fiduciaries in almost all of 2020’s GFSC enforcement actions. As a single-jurisdiction law firm we are able to focus on Guernsey law, ensuring that the expertise we offer our clients in the Guernsey courts is unrivalled; we are pleased that has been picked up by the Directory.’
