Our firm is widely recognised for the depth of experience of our lawyers and has a consistent track record acting on leading and landmark cases in Guernsey. Our History
Established in 1920, Babbé LLP is among Guernsey’s oldest independent law firms, originating from the practice of Advocate Joseph Naftel. Throughout its long history, the firm’s title has evolved to reflect its successive partners, incorporating names such as Martel, Le Pelley, Tostevin, Le Poidevin, and Allez.
The firm adopted its current name in 2006 and transitioned to a limited liability partnership in 2016. Since 2013, our chambers have been located at La Vieille Cour in La Plaiderie—a site documented as the island’s Royal Court as early as the 12th century. The name “La Plaiderie” translates to “the place of pleading,” marking the historic site where litigants sought to have their cases heard within the ancient court. This heritage underscores our long and extensive expertise within Guernsey’s legal landscape.
While we maintain the origins of our deep-seated local presence, we provide partner-led legal services to both domestic and international clients. Our integrated approach ensures that all clients receive exemplary service and seamless legal support, regardless of their jurisdiction.
